School of Education
Curriculum
Inclusive elementary and special education majors combine a strong general and inclusive/special education foundation with a liberal arts concentration area based on personal and professional interests.
Both courses and field experiences introduce inclusive schooling, provide principles and practices for inclusive classrooms, disability, communication and technology, and arts in education.
A focus on a subject or group of subjects you’ll choose in close collaboration with your advisor:
- Human Thought and Expression: literature, history, gender studies, languages, religion, the arts and other humanities subjects.
- People, Places, and Societies: sociology, anthropology, economics, geography, political science and other social science subjects.
- Mathematics: a mathematics foundation including a variety of elementary techniques and teaching methods.
- Natural Sciences: biology, chemistry, Earth science, physics and overall problem solving.
Professional Block semesters cluster coursework and student teaching field experiences as you put strategies into practice. The block places an emphasis on collaboration among students and faculty.
